My husband and I enjoy watching certain shows together–mainly along the line of detective series like Law & Order, NCIS, and the Chicago series. He also indulges my Hallmark addiction, particularly on weekends. When all else fails, we turn to Netflix. The more quirky, fun shows we watch that were cancelled, the more we don’t understand Hollywood.
Netflix and other streaming media are filling in the gap to some degree. They picked up Longmire (A&E), and Hallmark has picked up the Jesse Stone (CBS) series, but there are a lot they are missing–at least in our humble opinion.
We use IMDB a lot to go from one to another.
Here’s our list of shows we’ve watched and enjoyed and hate hate hate that they’ve been cancelled! Feel free to add to the list in the comments.
Taxi Brooklyn: Clever writing and outstanding cast. He’s a Marseilles-born, street-wise taxi driver; she’s an intense NYPD detective. Warning: Climatic, but abrupt ending. (NBC) This led us to:
Reckless: They’re both lawyers in Charleston. She’s northern, he’s southern and the attraction is hot! The plot twists and turns kept us glued to the last show–which left us with more questions than answers. (CBS) This led us to:
Eureka: Okay … this one is really strange. Netflix only has the last three seasons, but that will probably be enough for us. The premise and tongue-in-cheek acting make it fun. (Syfi)
Death in Paradise: Like nothing else we’ve watched. A British inspector who hates sun, surf, and sand is sent to Jamaica. (BBC)
Haven: This show had it’s own alternate reality. While some of the stories were hard to follow, the “troubles” of Haven kept us entertained for quite a while. (Syfi)
The Glades: Chicago police officer lands in Florida. Usual murder fare, but with a nicely developed romance. Unfortunately, the show was killed off…literally. (A&E)
And speaking of people being killed off…what about Al in Unforgettable? Is CBS going to make this one forgettable, too?
Now that you know what we do on long Montana winter nights, let us know what we can add to our list.
Popcorn, anyone?
