Throughout all my life, I’ve enjoyed romance in the kitchen. No, it’s not what you’re thinking!
I enjoy cooking, and as a sign in my living room announces, “I enjoy wine while I’m cooking. Sometimes I even put it in the food.” I enjoy making meals with my DH–he’s an excellent sous-chef!
Recently, we were introduced to the Oh She Glows cookbook by a family member. We’ve dipped into the recipes and enjoyed the ones we’ve tried. We’re not vegans, but as we age, we try to eat more healthy. From everything I’ve read and tried, it seems to be the way to keep fit on the food front. The meals tasty, although they can take a bit of getting used to if you’ve never eaten this type of food before. The taste on your tongue is totally different from what many of us grew up eating. (Boxed macaroni and cheese anyone?)
Last night we tried an edamame and soba noodle salad from the book. Like many of these types of recipes, it was a bit labor-intensive (all that chopping), so I called on my trusty sous-chef. In a brief half hour, we had the meal whipped into submission. It was tasty and filling, although we would both make a couple of adjustments for our taste buds.
It’s an adventure in eating, allowing us to spend more time together, instead of doing our solitary jobs at two ends of the house.
