Thanks, Lynna Banning, for inviting me to be in this tour. I met Lynna several years ago at the Monterey Bay Chapter of RWA. Like the other members, she was supportive of my dream to create a romance book. She spent hours critiquing my work, helping me become a better writer — always a work in progress!
What is the working title of your book? My next book is California Wine, the sequel to California Sunset in the California Romance Series.
Where did the idea come from for this book? When my husband and I were dating, we did a lot of wine tasting in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. In fact, we enjoyed it so much, we wrote a book about it! I knew Elizabeth, Annie’s best friend from California Sunset, needed a new man and a sexy Italian winemaker seemed just the ticket!
What genre does your book fall under? California Wine is a contemporary romance book.
How long did it take to write the first draft? I have to laugh at this question! It took me over a year to write the first draft because I’d get halfway, decide I didn’t like the direction it was going and start all over again. When I finally thought I had it, one of my beloved critique partners told me my hero was “an ass.” Back I went to page one!
What actors would you use for a movie rendition of your book? Rufus Sewell would be the hero (sigh)…. and I’d give Emma Watson a shot at Elizabeth. (Although if I could have control over time I’d love to see Audrey Hepburn or Sophia Loren in the role–Elizabeth has that kind of classic, elegant beauty.)
What is a one sentence synopsis of your book? From the ashes of betrayal and abandonment love can be reborn.
Will it be self published or represented by an agency? This romance book is published by Crimson Romance and is available on December 31, 2012.
Who or what inspired you to write this book?
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? If you like Debbie Macomber, Robyn Carr, Susan Mallory or Susan Wiggs, you will probably like this romance book.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? California Wine, like California Sunset, is a romance book about realistic problems with a realistic and romantic solution.
