I was all set to try out a new recipe from Make It Ahead: A Barefoot Contessa Cookbook for tonight’s dinner, when I ran into a snag. A clerk at my favorite local grocery store, Good Foods, informed me that pear season had passed.
How did that happen?
Life has been running so fast, it’s hard to keep up. I was deep into a draft for the first book in my next series, when the edits for the last book in the California Romance series came into my mail box. It meant I had my head buried in the edits for 10 days straight. Fortunately, my DH kept me supplied with those two critical food groups: chocolate and cheese.
Romance and food go hand in hand.
In the fourth book of the California Romance series, California Thyme, the heroine, Mandy, is an aspiring caterer. I had a great deal of fun describing meals I’d enjoyed at restaurants in California, as well as meals I could imagine making at home. In fact through the whole series, I enjoyed virtually exploring restaurants.
This month’s contest features California Thyme and Make It Ahead as prizes, to celebrate the theme of romance and food. Be sure to enter before April 30.
